Our First Christmas Card

I barely made it by Christmas getting these things in the mail. It's been a whirlwind of a December and I was afraid I was going to have to mark out "Merry Christmas" and scribble "Happy New Year" in its place on these things.

It's the obligatory wedding photo Christmas card which is only acceptable that first year of marriage so I thought, why not? You pay all of that money for professional photos why would I go snap my own?

Whitney didn't really care much about the cards and doesn't really understand the point. But he was happy with this little feature I threw on the back. It's his favorite part of the card.

Troy made it on his first card ever! Poor dogs raised by boys... they never get their 15 minutes of fame. Maybe next year he'll graduate to the front of the card.

If you didn't get one don't be offended. There's just not enough money in the bank to justify $500 worth of Christmas cards along with an additional $250 to mail the darn things. So instead, I hope you'll consider this your eCard from me and Whitney. We hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful 2012!!

Christmas Stockings

Mission impossible = sew stockings for our first Christmas.
Mission accomplished = stockings complete.

I found this tutorial online. There was even a .pdf pattern that made the whole project easier.

I really wanted to get the super cute stockings from Pottery Barn or Crate and Barrel, but I just didn't see the reason to spend the equivalent of my mother's Christmas gift on one over-sized sock. And so I broke out my sewing machine, knocked off the dust and got to work.

The fun part of free patterns is taping the pieces together. Just kidding...

Cut out the fabric... cut out the batting...

Cut out the lining... sew each piece... insert appropriately.

Sew the cuff inside out... then turn right side up...

Ta da. Almost done. But like all things good and southern, nothing is complete without a good monogram.

One for him...

One for me...

These for us. Merry Christmas!

September 24, 2011

Our photographer (A Moment Like This) sent over our slideshow from the wedding today. I can't stop watching it. I don't think my dimples have ever been more pronounced. I guess I must have smiled a little. ;) No amount of rain could have dampened the mood that day. It was perfect!

I've been planning a full on post all about our big day, but just haven't found the time to sit down and do it justice. It's coming, I promise... just after I finish all of the thank you notes I still have left to send!
